Day 10 – At sea – October 4th

Woke up to find a gray and overcast sky with rain falling.  No matter since we were spending the day at sea.  It did clear up but we had passing showers most of the day and the water was calm.

I hit the salon this morning to get a shampoo and style so to give the Commodore a break from his “beautician” duties!  I’ll be so glad to have my arm back to do my hair!!

Trivia was next and I am thrilled to report that Edna, Les, Betty, Al and I came in first and had it all to ourselves!!  Hooah!  We are now the proud owners of keychain flashlights!  The afternoon trivia didn’t go so well and I think we were third but we were missing Al and Betty.

The other high point of my day was that I played in the $500 slot tournament for the first time and was one of the five finalists!!  Oh, joy!  My hopes of winning were dashed when someone else won.  I did have the best cheering section of all the contestants!!

The whole group of us gathered in one of the bars this afternoon to toast Dan and Lee Ann on their birthdays!  I was late because of trivia but when I got there found the whole group on the dance floor!  Good on ‘ya, group!!  I’m pretty sure Dan wanted to fly under the radar about his birthday but graciously accepted everyone’s congratulations!  The wait staff even brought him a yummy chocolate cake with a candle after dinner and we all sang!  Nice try, Dan!!

Dinner again was a completely enjoyable event.  Our waiter, Silviu, is such a character and he said he remembered us from being on the Emerald Princess last year.  Hope we run into him again but I think he’s destined for better things given his personality!!

Tomorrow is our transit of the Panama Canal and the Commodore and I have ordered our Champagne breakfast so we don’t have to be bothered fighting the crowds in the dining venues.  We have a small aft deck just outside our room so we will benefit from some fabulous views of all the proceedings.

Have to rise at 5am tomorrow so it’s an early night tonight.  Not that I’m sleeping that much yet but at least I get to lie down!
