Day 6 – At sea - Sep 30

This is the second sea day of three in a row.  Another bright and beautiful day with the temperatures in the low 80’s and the humidity in the 80’s!!  Warm and wet!  We had a noisy night for some reason and many in our group had trouble sleeping with creaks, squeaks, bangs and other assorted noises a ship makes when they are speeding along the Pacific Coast!  Poor Jim was wandering the hallways looking for an empty room!  Pat and Lee Anne called for help this morning to fix an obnoxious banging outside their room on a balcony two doors down!  Our room has it’s share of new noises and the most annoying sounds like a sick cricket!  Can’t pinpoint it though!  We heard today that the seas will get rough overnight as we will be passing through an area with lots of wind.  Oh, goody!  Doubling up on the Bonine!!

Played trivia this morning with Al, Betty and Don (of course my stalwart friends, Edna and Les are always present!) and we managed a weak third place.  Really stinky questions!  This afternoon Edna, Les, Betty, Ed and I managed a FIRST PLACE!  Hooya!!  We shared it with three other teams…but a first is a first!!  The best part is we beat the team that has been denying us first place all week!  Bwahaahah!

The Commodore and I were invited to the luncheon today that honors the top 40 “most traveled” passengers!  It was held in a private area in the dining room and the Captain and senior staff all attend.  It was very nice and the food was scrumptious!  We had lobster and red snapper that was delicious.  Our table was hosted by the Manager of the Hotel and her name is Sheila Griffin.  She’s been at sea for 25 years and is a delight.  We have sailed with her on other ships but this is the first time we’ve been able to chat.

I had a chance to ask her about the laundry situation since all the passenger laundry rooms on the ship were closed today.  Our room steward told me that there is NO laundry being done today since there is a problem with some pipe that’s blocked.  The Commodore sent out his underwear yesterday to be washed and it’s not back so who knows when he’ll see it again!!!  He says he can turn the ones he’s wearing inside out and get another day out of them!!  The laundries are still closed tonight so they weren’t fixed by “late afternoon” after all!  We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

A group of us had dinner in the Italian restaurant this evening called Sabatini’s and we laughed a lot and ate a lot.  Groan!

It was formal night once again so most of the other’s donned their finest and went off to the dining room!

Another great day with a great group!!  So lucky!
XOXOXOXO

  1. A first place in trivia! You've had to wait longer into a cruise for that before, so that's great!

This laundry/no clean underwear story's might have teeth if we go another day or two....I can hear the jokes already!

  2. The good news is that the laundry is back to work! Bad news is all the unused jokes!!
