WOW! What a day!
We were
informed yesterday by Princess that the ship would be two hours late arriving
to San Francisco and we were advised not to appear until 2:30 pm for
boarding! A few moments of panic ensued
while I scrambled to get in touch with the transportation company I had
contracted to take 24 of us to the pier at 9:30 am!! They were nice enough to accommodate our late
change and agreed to pick us up at 12:15 pm which would assure us a perfect
arrival time although we thought we might have to wait a bit if they were being
strict with the 2:30 edict! Some of us
were very grateful for the extra couple of hours to prepare and some of us just
twiddled our thumbs, raring to go!
At
11:30 a group of total angels appeared from Club Los Meganos with snack bags,
cold drinks, wine and lots of enthusiasm to wish us a “Bon Voyage”!! They set up shop on our driveway and it was
such a warm and wonderful thing for them to do and I must say we spent most of
our drive to the city talking about how lucky we are to live in a place that
has such a wonderful staff. They
continually spoil us and we are grateful and feel so fortunate!
The
drive to the city was uneventful and we all enjoyed our first trip across the
“new” Bay Bridge. The Embarcadero was a
mob scene since we arrived at the same time the America’s Cup race was
finished! (Yay! USA!) We arrived at the
pier and in just 20 minutes went from curbside to ship!! Very rapid boarding and no lines!
After
making our way to our rooms and doing a little unpacking it was time for the
muster drill and then right off to dinner.
We have a group of tables reserved for our group of 28 and most of us
made it to the dining room. There is
always quite a bit of confusion on the first night but all were fed! Many decided to watch the sail under the
Golden Gate before coming down to dinner and they loved it!!
The
Commodore and I ran into one of our favorite bartenders this evening and it was
so nice to be well remembered and recognized! We sailed with Jayson 2 years ago on a Mexican
Riviera cruise and he remembered those details!
(Guess we must be pretty good tippers!!)
We’re
going to call an early night! I didn’t
sleep much at all last night and we’ve been busy all day.
I’ll
check in again tomorrow!!
XOXOXO
M
Glad you got off well. Nice to hear about the staff at the club!
ReplyDeleteAs we watched the race ending, and saw the ship in the background, I thought for sure your arrival would be a total nightmare! I can't believe it only took you 20 minutes from curb to ship! Say what?!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you had such a great sent off. You may be good tippers, but these things really happen because the two of you take an interest in people.
